Type cmd.exe in the search box, and right click on the result, selecting Run as administrator.

Type sfc /SCANNOW and press Enter.

After it completes -

Type chkdsk /r and press Enter.

I did both. the SCANNOW listed no integrity problems. The CHKDSK said volume was in use, so I had the scan run on restart. At the end, all I was given was a scan 100% complete and repaired. Is there a way to check for that log, if any? As of now, the error message hasn't popped up. I'll see.

The log is located in the Windows Event Logs.

In Control Panel, enter event in the top-right search box and click View event logs in the result.

There could be a lot of entries, so click on the Date and Time column to sort the newest ones first.

Can't seem to find it. I right clicked under "WIndows logs" > "Application" and searched through the find. It didn't pull up anything. I also tried this under powershell, but nothing.

get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file c:\CHKDSK_REPORT.txt

A bit confused as to why. Still no error message yet, but I would like to look at the log and have another set of eyes check too.

Download and run the portable version of Zemana Anti-Malware
