I am installiing gnupg to use with Enigmail and Thunderbird.

I use Linux Mint 17.2

seahorse is the "frontend" for gnupg. I am not sure what a frontend is, just a GUI or is it the complete program?

If you go into Software Manager in Linux, you see both seahorse and gnupg listed side by side.

If I install Seahorse should I also install GnuPG?

Any assistance appreciated for this basic question.

GnuPG is the set of CLI utilities that are used to generate and manage Private/Public keypairs.

Seahorse as a GUI wrapper so you don't have to remember CLI commands.

Install them both.
