How and what's the best way to get your site to number one in the search engine results without employing a company.

I have no business but thought I might learn to code a site and want to learn before I start coding my site. Basically so I don't have to redo the site because of a lack of knowledge.

Any way to get my site to  number 1 what tools, lines of code, key words, singing up to exterior company's do I use.

Thanks all

Do a web search for responsive web design.
It means using CSS and HTML to resize ultimately making your site work across all devices.

3 words, my friend - Search Engine Optimisation (or SEO).

There's heaps of stuff you can find on Google about how you can optimize your website and boost your rankings.

There are some things you can action right now, like your on-page SEO. Have a read of this post of actions you can do right now to boost your online presence.

Then once you've done that take a look at this Kissmetrics article. There's a load of great info out there if you get some time to do some learning.

Let me know if you have any further SEO related questions :)

Cheers

R

Thanks I got most of that and google ad words will come in handy I thought it would involve some techy stuff but it's not really.

I'd rather steer well away from twitter, facebook and all the social media can't stand that side of the internet far to much mindless drivel on it. Definitely handy the GoogleAdWords.

Thanks bud

Their are so many ways to get a website to 1st page of search engine. In those their are most important things like

1. Mainly focus on website loading speed is low.

2. Also make sure to list your business in google local listings.

3. Optimise all on-page issues in website based on webmaster guidelines.

Another way to increase your clout with the search engines is to get as many backlinks to your site as possible. However, they need to be legitimate links from reputable sites with high page rankings. When anyone asks to use my original content, I always ask for payment with a working hyperlink back to my website...

Hope this helps... :-)

Most if not all of the advice here won't get you number one listing for any meaty keyword.

You need to learn SEO from the pros.   Check Brian Dean's blog.
