I want to use my 80 gig multi boot (98, 2K, XP, '03 server trial) hd in a different computer. I put it in there and booted 98 and it sorta worked, couldn't find drivers on itself for some of the hardware which is correct I think. But I want to use the XP partition as my main OS. When trying to boot into the XP the system just reboots continually, never goes into XP.
SOme have said that it can't be done, some said that if I boot from the CD and choose 'repair' that it should install the right stuff for the not new but new to me box. Any thoughts?

That's correct: a working XP installation won't start in a different system, unless you reinstall it. The alternative to a full installation is the repair installation: boot from your XP install CD; start installing normally, and when the assistant detects the previous installation, it'll offer you the repair option which will keep all your software and system configurations, user folders, etc., but not the drivers.

Ah, thank you. well then, I may install a different XP from a network, to the first partition on top of 98. Is that a problem? Just leave the other XP partition alone and have two XP installs, and I can swap the HD from one system to another and choose the correct OS on boot.
