I just built new computers for myself and my wife. and I started getting BSOD's soon after the first boot up. Everything so far has installed great. I ran a first batch of 4 passes of Memtest but it didn't come back with anything. Tried updating BIOS and drivers and Windows updates but still getting them. Would appreciate any assistance. Thank you

Hi. . .

The 14 dump files contained various bugchecks besides the 0x1a (severe memory management error) -

BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, fffff80237c6ada8, ffffca81a01b0220, 0}

BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, ffff98d03c43dc48, ffffcf01d166ae40, 0}

BugCheck 19, {20, ffffae85de3e8350, ffffae85de3e8470, 5120404}

BugCheck 1A, {41793, ffffa83ffeaa8100, 1, 0}

BugCheck 1A, {41792, ffffa100cb433180, 8c0000, 0}

BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, fffff803d46e46c6, ffffa9812aa7a240, 0}

BugCheck C2, {7, 0, 0, ffffe10d72b210a0}

BugCheck 7A, {1, ffffffffc0000005, ffff9c8a152b1740, fffff28014f700a0}

BugCheck 1A, {41284, 7ff78ab45000, 1453c, fffffd8010804310}

One in particular caught my eye - 0x7a (,0xc5,,) - data from the page file could not be read into RAM due to memory access violation exception error. This bugcheck usually involves hard drives.

I see that you have 3 hard drives - 1 SATA and 2 SSDs -

QuoteQuote

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB

Samsung SSD 840 Series

Go to Samsung support and make sure that the firmware on both SSDs is updated -

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/M2M/html/support/downloads.html

As for the SATA HDD, run SeaTools for DOS, LONG test - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/4072-hard-drive-hdd-diagnostics.html

I assume that just one of your two new systems is BSOD'ing...?

There is no doubt in my mind that your BSODs are being caused by unknown hardware failure. Hopefully, it is the SSD firmware.

Unfortunately, the dumps are incapable of telling us which piece of hardware has failed. Dumps are only good for figuring out software problems, but sometimes can sort of point us in a hardware direction.

SSDs being solid state devices like RAM can and do throw off RAM related BSOD bugchecks as SSDs are more like RAM than HDDs (SSDs have no moving parts). So, the SSD firmware is my best guess for now. Other possibilities are PSU, mobo or RAM - anything that can cause RAM to not properly hold kernel code.

Regards. . .

Yes this is just on the first new system. I haven't finished the build on my wife's system yet. I went all morning and afternoon without a crash. Had a game crash but not a BSOD. I went ahead with the firmware update on my boot drive which is the 840 Pro. Had a couple more crashes a little later on that were new. I have attached a new collection. I also removed the regular HDD as that was not needed in my system.

Hi. . .

I would suggest that you upgrade the firmware on the 2nd SSD as well.

Good idea to disconnect the HDD.

The 4 dumps from July 1 read like those previously did -

Did these BSODs occur before or after the SSD firmware upgrade?

These occurred after the firmware upgrade and both have the latest firmware. Yesterday I took all the RAM slots out and ran single modules at 10 passes each with Memtest. Two of the 8GB modules have come back without any errors. I'm running on one of the 8GB modules now to see if I can perhaps rule out the memory.

Ran fine for a bit this morning and then a new crash. Attached new collection. This crash was with only 1 RAM module in. Other crashes from yesterday before memory tests are included in the collection as well.

0x1a is still appearing, but so are others. This is highly indicative of unknown hardware failure.

If the SSDs and RAM are OK, then it likely involves the PSU or mobo.  Can you swap parts with the other system?

Regards. . .

Swapped out mobo this morning and so far, no BSOD yet. I shouldn't have said that... but if it remains true I'm all for it. I'll see how tomorrow goes.

Let's hope for no new BSODs.

Thanks for at least trying the mobo swap - much appreciated.
