Hi all, first timer to the site, got here after husband search web and discovered this brill help site. He is good with comps but was off to work, so left me to it. Had major prob with home page taken over and constant flashing pop up, directing me to some site to buy anti virus software. Although i had a virus checker and all that, this prog still got through and caused problems, (oops, I had actually turned off the checker for a while) and wasn't fixed when i then ran the checker. Anyway, i followed various suggestions on this site, some given through the forums, but i think it was mainly the info given on the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Instructions for receiving help in cleaning your computer"page that did the trick. So wanted to say a big thank you for the very clear and straight forward infomation. Also apologies for not tracking which forums i was reading, but "Pop Ups Appear Telling Me I Have An Infection, A balloon in the lower right occasionally pops up and pop up windows al" was one of them, "Spyware and Malware Removal Guides and Reading Room" was another area i checked, can't remember which exact questions i read, and one somewhere else had something in the title like, "hijacked homepage, or homepage take over" So big, big thanks to all  :flowers:

Hi again and  for acknowledgements. Have to say, that I kind of discovered today there was a lot more wrong with my computer then I realized. My husband said, on the few occassions he was forced to use it, that it was probably because of all the stuff I have on it, (I tend to hoard stuff, even on computers, :flowers: .) But following whatever I did yesterday, it's fixed even problems I was resigned with living with. So now I am as delighted with my computer as I was when I first got it. Once again big thanks to all those on here who give their time and knowledge. for no reward others then actually helping others. I hope you all realize what a genuine decent thing it is to do and that it really is appreciated. Now hubby can't keep telling me to clear what he called junk. :trumpet:
