I've got the virus/malware thing that installs a toolbar in iexplorer and explorer (I have Win XP), and to get rid of it wants me to install system doctor. But the tutorial for using hijack this to get rid of system doctor malware doesn't work because the entry "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemDoctor 2006 Free] C:\Program Files\SystemDoctor 2006 Free\sd2006.exe -scan" does not show up in the scan.

Here is the log:

Please help, this is really messing up my computer.

Note: I've tried AVG, ewido and Spybot SD but they hang up and never finish their scan (though I didn't try doing them from safe mode).

Thanks.

Update: I tried spybot, ewido and AVG in safemode and still couldn't complete any scans (though i didn't really think those would solve the problem they might help).

Any help would be appreciated, I can hardly even use my computer. I use firefox at all and iexplorer barely works.

Also, I noticed that whenever I use explorer and close a window it acts like the explorer box is an explorer and an iexplorer (both icons come up sequentially).

Hello,

I see Viewpoint installed..
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.
