I have been getting constant BSOD, mainly with the VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL and SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED errors. They usually occur if I start a game, but can also happen at random intervals.

  • OS - Windows 10 Home x64 (Full Retail)
  • Original OS - Windows 8.1
  • Age of system (hardware) - 3 years
  • Age of OS installation - 2 years
  • CPU - Intel Core i7-4500U 1.80GHz
  • Video Card - NVIDIA Geforce GT 740M
  • System Manufacturer - Dell
  • Model Number - Inspiron 5437
  • Laptop

I tried running the Driver Verifier, but I got a BSOD loop, forcing me to boot the computer in safe mode and reset the driver verifier.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version A10) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.
FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).

Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

These devices have problems in Device Manager:

Airplane Mode Switch    ACPI\DELLABCE\2&DABA3FF&2    This device is working properly.
Not Available    ROOT\SYSTEM\0004    The drivers for this device are not installed.

Locate both of them in Device Manager, right click on each one and select "uninstall"

DO NOT select the option (if offered) to delete the software.  You want to keep the software

Then reboot and see if the problems have been resolved

FYI - even though the first one says it's working properly, it wouldn't appear here unless there was a problem.

Many more Live Kernel Events than BSOD events in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.

This is often suggestive of a hardware problem.

Please run these free hardware diagnostics:

Please run ALL of the tests and let us know the results.

Please update these older drivers.  Links are provided in order to assist you with looking up the source of the drivers.  If unable to find an update, please uninstall the program that is responsible for that driver.

DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable!!!: intelide.sys                Sun Dec  7 00:16:35 2008 (493B5C33)

The memory dumps seem to point to video issues.

Please start by:

- downloading (but not installing) a fresh set of the latest, W10 compatible video drivers from the Dell website.  I suggest the Dell website in case Dell has customized the drivers to operate with their devices.  If Dell sends you to nVidia for the drivers - then it's OK to use the nVidia drivers.

- uninstall the nVidia video drivers from Control Panel

- then use this free tool to remove the remnants:  http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

- then install the freshly downloaded drivers.

- monitor for further problems.

If the problems continue (or, if you're impatient :0), please run these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html (yes, I said this earlier - each particular set of problems that calls for these diags has the link).

Please start with the video tests.  Run all the video tests, then run the rest of the diagnostics (please be sure to run them all).

Let us know the results and we'll move on from there.
