I am having trouble logging into my HP laptop with Windows 8.1.

I was using it normally and received a message that there was a problem with Windows and that it needed to restart and was given a timer of about a minute before it did so. I then rebooted it normally but my password was not being recognised and labeled incorrect. I changed it via the Microsoft portal to no avail, I also spoke with Microsoft Support who were useless who suggested I try a restore (only one point was available from the afternoon of when I had the issue) which ended up showing error 0x80070017. My account is the Admin account, I tried to check the password using Ophcrack which did not find any results and tried to clear it with the NT Password Reset tool which too was unable to find/fix the issue. Any help regaining access would be appreciated!
