"event Receiver" Notice On Every Shut Down

I hope someone may help me, I have the same thing happen whenever i shut down my comp, It tells me that "event receiver" is trying to shut down and gives me the 'end now' option which i sometimes have to press a few times before windows closes down.
Any ideas what has caused this or even what an event receiver is? Any help would be most appreciated

Aps that aren't closing before Windows tries to shutdown triggering event reporting may be responsible.
