I just wish to know what are the ways to monitor the internet usage of a particular laptop or a cellphone to know which of these devices are responsible to use most of the internet.

I have mine wifi shared with 4 people and most of our network is consumed in 10 days so i want to know who is using the most of the bandwidth

Most modern routers have a statistics feature that will log usage by IP and MAC address...

Correct.

The router is the best way to track everything.

For less than $100 US, you can get a router like this one, put DD-WRT firmware on it, and problem solved...
