It is all gone.  I do not have any network adapters present and all network adapters are corrupted.  I did a

sfc /scannow

and it found some corrupt files and fixed them.  The drivers are recognized in safe mode but will not install.  Does anybody know how to fix it?  I will probably just reinstall the system again.  Nope, I do not run any strange programs.  There are pretty common like VLC, bittorrent, and firefox.

Did you do anything to the computer before you had the network adapter problem.

Also what errors are you seeing in device manager?
