Painfully slow computer

The start up and the applications are painfully slow. Windows 7 shows a build 7601 error. 

I am scared if I am attacked by some virus or that too much information on forums can invite ransomeware? 

Please guide

Computer make and model? Need more information as to doing any recent updates. Have you made any recent significant changes ? Build 7601 error is associated with non-genuine OS.

 

Just a thought, you might try a System Restore to a point prior to receiving this error.

It would help a great deal if you were to inform us as to the make and model of this computer.

 

If you built this computer and installed the Windows operating system where did you get the installation media and product code?

 

If this is a OEM computer you could try calling Microsoft Support to see if they can resolve this.  Explain your problem with the 7601 error.

Moved back to Win 7, no indication that malware is at work.

 

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Just throw it in the trash and buy a new one if you can afford it.  I used to reformat the computer all the time because it just goes slow.

So yeah.

1.  Throw it away & buy a new one

2.  Reformat it.

The message "Page not found" appears when the link is clicked on.

 

I would suggest going back and try following the instructions carefully.

 

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

The one piece of information the Speccy will not provide is the make and model of your PSU.  If you know what it is please post this along with the Speccy link which will be generated.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
 
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.
