My computer gave some stop code error and forcibly shut down and now won't turn on except in safe mode. When I turn it on it usually goes to a black screen, sometimes it will go to a diagnosing problem screen. It is only when it goes to the diagnosing problem screen I am able to restart it with other options and go on with safe mode with networking.

I have tried running disk repair and it completes to 100% and then goes right back to the black screen. I have also tried system restore and it stops in the middle of it saying "Your system could not be restored, no files or folders were changed".  I have also tried resetting the computer (both with and without keeping files and folders) and that also gives the error saying that "Your computer could not be restored, no files or folders were changed."

Any help would be much appreciated. My computer and everything in it are only barely 3 years old.

I tried it anyway and it did this:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

first test the hardware.

1. turn off the computer. as the power back it on, tap f2 key and it would load hardware diagnostics.

2.  once screen loads run the startup test.

if the startup test pass

1.power back off the computer and then press f8 key and it would load the advance boot options.

2. just select last known good configuration and it maybe work for you.

hope it works, cheer.
