Hello;

As I read from your previous thread, the active infection is already gone. Now let's deal with the leftovers.
But before you do, I want you to disable Pestpatrol, because PestPatrol may interfere with the hijackthisfixes and replace the entries you fixed.
Also, after you enable pestpatrol again, make sure you allow the changes.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Extra instruction.... after performing above steps, to restore your default prefix, perform next..

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox below in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Save this as restoreprefix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.
(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Hi, look in my previous post... it is another reg you had to create. I already let you create fix.reg, this above one is a different one.
Check and fix next entry in hijackthis again:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D424FE4E-CAF9-4fdd-BC5F-E6E6B91D53BF} - (no file)

Most probably your SuperAdblocker was interfering here previously as well and refused above one getting fixed.

Let me know if your startpage is ok now. Normally you should have a blank page now.

That entry is still there, and that's because superadblocker runs as a toolbar and BHO and replaces it again. Or Spyware doctor is interfering as well.
That's what you get when you want to fix items yourself when so many realtime scanners are active/running. They interfere.
Disabling superadblocker from the system tray won't help here anyway. You can disable the Toolbar of superadblocker in your internet explorer (internet explorer > toolbars) and disable the BHO in your Internet explorer (Internet explorer > Tools > manage add ons > showbox > disable SABBHO.DLL and iesdpb.dll and iesdsg.dll )
Then, once all disabled, check and fix next entry again:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D424FE4E-CAF9-4fdd-BC5F-E6E6B91D53BF} - (no file)

If it comes back afterwards, leave it, because I don't want you to uninstall these scans just to fix an orphaned entry in the registry. :thumbsup:

Anyway, good your issue is solved with your startpage as well.

Also perform a full scan with your Norton to get rid of leftovers if still present.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

* Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.
* Don't click on links inside popups.
* Don't click on links in spam messages claiming to offer anti-spyware software; because most of these so called removers ARE spyware.
* Download free software only from sites you know and trust. Because a lot of free software can bundle other software, including spyware.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
