Hello - New to the site and looking for best free antivirus for my Windows Vista

I am looking for best free antivirus for my Windows Vista now that Microsoft has terminated their Security Essentials Thanks for any assistance to pointing me in the right direction in advance. :smash:

Also ....what is the best way to check my PC for any potential viruses??

Vista no longer has security support. There is no anti-virus that will protect it from any new threats that target the operating system.

 

The best course would be to upgrade to a new OS, or cross grade to Linux.

 

Basically, you should no longer connect it to the internet.

 

I like Avira and BitDefender for free antivirus, though I don't know that they will be compatible with Vista either.
