So I am looking to upgrade my motherboard but how do i know if my cpu will work in the new motherboard. I have the gigabyte Z77n-wifi mother board now with an intel core i7 ivy bridge 3770k. I also don't know what motherboard to buy so if you could show me one which would be good to game on, then thanks.

You should upgrade CPU also. There is no much better motherboard than you already have for that CPU.

Why? Because ATX board have better connectors?

ITX boards fit on mid tower cases.
