I have both Emsisoft Anti-Malware and MalwareBytes installed on my computer, so I don't want Windows Defender running, too. If I open the Windows Defender program from the Start Menu, I get a window that tells me that Auto Scan is disabled and real-time protection is Off. However, in the output report from a Speccy run, Windows Defender is shown to be Enabled.

So, my question is, is Windows Defender running and operating on my computer or not? I'm not sure how the program can be Enabled and Off at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

How do I go about disabling the Windows Defender Service, permanently? I can stop the service in Task Manager, but I assume that the next time I start the computer, it will just be enabled again.

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services

Scroll down to Windows Defender Service. Stop the service. Then set it to Disabled and click on OKAY (or Apply).
