Hi folks,

I was just wondering, if you install games (e.g. Counter Strike) on your computer (laptop), does this open your system up to more potential threats (i.e. hacking, system access, viruses etc)?

And does it make any difference if you just play games offline compared with playing online (with Steam for example)?

Any thoughts much appreciated

Any new software can in theory be a risk, but games from known developers delivered through known channels are generally very safe. Installing Skyrim from Steam realistically isn't going to give you any viruses. installing Cracked.Skyrim.All.DLC from Pirate bay? Not safe. Likewise for cheats and user generated content. "High Def texturepack" from steam workshop, probably safe. "AutoHeadShotCheat.bat" from www.leetgaemhaxxorz.qz, not safe.
