Yesterday i fixed the problem which was that my Canon imageclass mf 4350d printer wouldn't scan.

Today I can't print a regular document on my Dell laptop inspiron 15 3558 which uses Windows 10. It printed fine before i fixed the scan problem yesterday.

I don't know what kind of problem this is so i don't know which forum to use.

I get error messages when i try to print. i delete the document from the queue and try again.

I downloaded the driver from Canon for Windows 10 (first unplugging my blue printer cord from the usb port as directed) and Restarted computer and downloaded the Patch. But it still won't work.

I tried troubleshooting and it said if you make 4350(FAX) your default printer it may print. i said ok.

Maybe that was a mistake...

Then I thought maybe I am supposed to move my blue printer cord to a different usb port on my laptop so I put it in one on the right side.

Now I don't know what to do!!!

Nothing I have tried works.

I try looking at Properties and Advanced Properties...

I don't understand what options like LPT1 and LPT3 are and don't know if these refer to one of the usb ports on my laptop.

I said make 4350 my default printer [because that was my default before, not the 4350(FAX)] and it said ok but then Windows won't manage your printer. I thought "that's ok" but maybe it's not ok?

ANY ADVICE?

Thanks!  I am going crazy because I have to be able to print!

Thanks,

Donna1

I would delete all printers reflected as installed.  Multiple installs of the same printer are common for me when a printer problem develops.  Reinstalling the driver may create a second printer...simply deleting all printers and then installing anew...takes care of the multiples where there is really only one printer.

Thanks Louis!

But, do you think if I uninstall any and all printers, that it will be easy for me to then install a printer? When I bought the printer (who knows when, maybe a long time ago), I don't know how I installed the printer... I don't know if I needed a CD or if just downloading a printer driver again and plugging in my USB cord would work...

Also, do you think I may have accidentally told the computer the wrong usb port to look for to find the blue printer cable?

Thanks,

Donna1

unplug your printer usb cable,

go to device manager then printers,

right click and unistall all the printers in that list,

then install the printer again using your installation disk that came with it,

if you do not have the install disk download the driver from the canon website and run it,

DO NOT plug the printer into your computer until you are instructed to do so by the driver software

Very well might be. Typically, if the printer selected in Windows has "fax" as part of the title, it is meant to print to the fax side of things and then send that "print" as a fax. In other words, it is a printer (and driver) set to send a fax of a document by using a print command.

Go to the list of Printer under Windows 10 and see if there is another listing for the 4350 printer that does NOT include the word FAX in it. If there is, then try setting that printer to the default (typically can be done by right clicking the printer icon and you should see "Set as default" or something similar on the pop-up menu). Then try printing again.
