Hey guys short and simple I have 4gb of ram out of possible 8gb. Is the ~$50 upgrade it worth it. Main reason for doing it. I play Skyrim and runs fine having trouble with fallout4 n black ops 3. So curious If I upgrade ram it will be able to run like Skyrim with no lag or issues.

Specs

https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavilion-touchsmart-sleekbook-15-b129wm-15-6-a-series-a6-4455m-windows-8-64-bit-4-gb-ram-500-gb-hdd/specs/

Thanks. Also I will be putting in the ram myself. Was assuming it's a crucial 4gb ram ddr3L 204pin sodimm. I believe is what I need for ram. But if someone can give link to ram I would need thanks 😎👍

Yes, it is worth it.  Go to Crucial and look up your machine to see the correct RAM.  Going from 4GB to 8GB will give you across the board improvement.  I don't recommend running Windows with less than 8GB of RAM.

Even with my other specs? With 8gb "should" it run fallout 4 and blop 3?

Also in terms upgrading ram will do what exactly? Better memory for graphics in a sense???

Thanks again man

That might work. I could not find a specific match to the full "model number" of 15-b129wm. I found the "Pavilion Sleekbook 15 (AMD)" like you did and the following selections for "Pavilion TouchSmart 15 (AMD DDR3):

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-touchsmart-15-%28amd-ddr3%29

From that list, this 4 GB RAM module is the exact same module as you found even through the item numbers are different (i.e. they have the same exact specs, but the one you found is item CT4059603 while the one I found is CT5044925):

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-touchsmart-15-%28amd-ddr3%29/CT5044925

The key thing will be to determine the specs of the RAM module you have right now, unless you plan on buying a matching set of two 4 GB RAM modules from Crucial and just scrap the module you current have. So, it would be best if you could open up the RAM cover and look for the sticker on the RAM module you have and post what it says. This is because Crucial is suggesting (at least on the option I found) both 1600 and 1866 DDR3 RAM. You will want to match what you have for best performance if you do not buy a matched pair. Info from the sticker on the current RAM module will tell us what you have.

You don't have to open up your computer, I think. Just use this Crucial scanner.
Good luck!:)

What version of Windows is installed?

If a 32-bit version, adding RAM will be of no benefit at all.

You are correct. However, he says in his original post that he is using a 64-bit machine, so indeed he will benefit from a RAM increase.:)

A 64-bit machine will be of very little value...when it comes to utilization of more than 4GB RAM...if it employs a 32-bit O/S.  Windows XP proved that.  The 4GB limitation lies in the O/S, not in the system architecture...where 32-bit Windows is installed.

You would need to see what the hardware requirements are for the different games to see if upgrading the RAM will resolve your issues or will allow you to run.
