I have Avant, but it uses IE's internet settings. In order to access a work portal, I need the proxy setting clear. I do this, go to the portal; no problem. However, something re-checks the proxy and I lose access! I end up clearing it AGAIN and then can connect just fine. I am not a novice, but this has me stumped!

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks - marc

9/7/06 - UPDATE - Microsoft Live Messenger seems to be the culprit! After clearing the proxy setting in lan settings, I sent a message about this very problem to a friend. The setting returned! After a bit of testing, I determined that that is the only thing that put the proxy back on. Now, what? On the surface, I can't adjust MSN's connection settings to not include the local proxy.
