Hi which is the best free helpdesk software, we are a small IT company looking to set up a helpdesk ticketing system for our users, something with a chat option to would be great, thanks

Hi there.


Just a suggestion: you could try to implement Open Technology Real Services (OTRS). It's a UNIX-based platform, i.e., it must run on a Linux-based server.


You may check https://www.otrs.com and see your options.

I use Maian ticket support system, it don't have the chat functionality but in my opinion if you use the ticket system to it's full potential there is no need for a chat option, a chat option also requires someone to be online all the time, with Maian someone can put in a ticket while you're asleep, when you wake up you can go and answer the ticket while still providing them quality customer service, you can also set up auto responses like "Your ticket has been received, someone will be with you as soon as possible!" as that is what I have mine set to.
