I used to be able to connect my Android Lava phone to my WinXP desktop and transfer files etc. Something changed and now when I connect my phone my system does not recognize the USB connection. any suggestions?

This phone does not come with any system drivers. Thanks!

It is the Lava Pixel 2 phone.

Yes I downloaded that driver in January already (the one for my phone Lave Pixel 2) but it didn't help.

I tried downloading a few drivers, none helped.

When I plug in my phone my phone says "Connected as a media device" but my desktop doesn't see it.

It used to though before. Same WinXP system.

Thanks.

I believe I might be making some progress..

Doing the Developer Option thing...

This is what just happened:

When I connected the USB cable:

USB debugging connected (showed on phone)

PC says Found New Hardware etc. (MTP)
When I chose automatic...  Cannot Install this hardware...
PC says Found New Hardware etc. (ADB Interface_
When I chose automatic... Cannot Install this hardware...

So it seems it is progress. It is seeing new hardware.

You'll usually be prompted on your smartphone's screen to click that you trust your computer and also you can usually tap that you want 'file transfer'.:)

Wasn't prompted for that.

I would like to get back the Found New Hardware prompts again though to work with it...

I re-booted my WinXP but this time it didn't show Found New.. etc.

I was going to direct it to some drivers if it showed this Found New again.

There is a link..

It said Found New hardware before (MTP).

MTP is the setting on the phone for file transfers...

Latest experiment...

I went into Control Panel/Add New Hardware
It showed Pixel (my phone) with a Yellow exclamation mark!
I chose manual installation of drivers and pointed it to a folder
with some drivers.

It came back with the following:
Cannot Install this Hardware:
"There was a problem installing this hardware:

 MTP device
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The required section was not found in the INF"

Any ideas now? To get the right drivers?

I have two folders. One with a bunch of drivers another with a UniversalADBdriver.msi file (that WinXP doesn't like).
