Telus SIM card problem

I use Kodoo services on my Samsung Galaxy 4S smartphone.A few days ago I purchased a Telus
prepayed SIM card,for 20 $,valid for one year.
After inserting the Telus SIM card I have a problem with making phone calls,when dialing
a phone number I get " not registered on network " error message. Access to the Internet
is okay.
I was under the impression I could make phone calls with my Telus SIM card.Was I wrong ?

It may need to be activated first. Bring it to the Telus store. They should be able to activate it with a code.:)
