When I ask if it's an upgrade, I don't just mean if it's better overall. I mean ... is there anything? Anything at all? That the FX-4350 might do better?

Case in point: My current FX-4350 is quad core, at 4.2GHz. The FX-6120 is six-core, but each core is only 3.5GHz.

So, it appears at first glance that I'm going from a total of 16.8GHz to a total of 21GHz. However, that's assuming that the cores all function as one giant CPU.

Will there be some apps - namely, games - that require a single core to have a certain number of hertz in it? At that point, the 6120 processor could arguably be considered a downgrade.

My current build:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
Processor: AMD FX-8350
RAM: 12GB (2x2GB+8GB)
Video Card: Geforce GTX 1050ti

OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate

It's upgrade but so small I cannot see it worthy. Upgrade to FX-8xxx would really be an upgrade.
