I get an online foreign newspaper sent to me every day and I've been reading it for years. Now when it arrives I can't open any of the articles because a window pops up saying, The address is not valid. The address in question should read for example;  www.nameofpaper.com/articles/view/20180436/world/north-korean-missile-blows-up-on-test-launch.645586

But instead it has the following before the WWW; C:\Users\myname\Desktop\/

If I copy the address into word and strip off C:\Users\myname\Desktop\/ then I can open the article, read it and comment on it but obviously it is a pain having to do that. I should also point out that the message box that pops up stating that the address is not valid is from Internet Explorer. I don't use Internet Explorer as a browser, I use Firefox.

Any idea what is going on here and how I can fix it?

The address is not valid     Most likely causes:

  • There might be a typing error in the address.
  • If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

What you can try:   Retype the address.    Go back to the previous page. Go back to the previous page.
