Now using 64 bit Windows 7 Professional instead of 32 bit XP SP 3.

I have a Canoscan N1240U LiDE 30 Flatbed scanner.

When I try to load the programs on the cd that came with it,

it says the twain drivers are missing.

I'd appreciate it if someone well versed in finding drivers can find the

right drivers for this.

Some say that a twain driver for Win 7 64 bit isn't available.

Others say something called VUE something has drivers, but they charge a $30 annual

use fee for the priviliege.

Also, I have a DeskJet 840C that isn't working either.

Could use help locating the right drivers for Win 7.

You may be talking about VueScan. There is no yearly fee. You get free upgrades for one year. You can still use the software after a year.

From the Canon Support site there are no drivers or software listed for Windows 7 so VueScan would be your option.

I downloaded and tried the trial version of VueScan...the page is covered with hamrick watermarks, but the paid version won't have those.

It appears that if you buy the upgrade, you may be able to retroactively remove the watermarks on previously scanned docs, or perhaps it

does it automatically.

$30 or $90 to upgrade to a version without the watermarks.

Good to know that VueScan will work if I will need a tabletop scanner vs. my other scanner.
