Over thirty apps are 'pending', waiting to update. But they will not download --- they report 'Waiting for Wi-Fi'. The internet connection is good. I have lost use of Mail, People, Edge, and many other important services. I have switched Windows Firewall on, which restored the Store but not the apps.

What is going on? I do get DNS cannot be found some times.

Press the windows keywindowskey_zps092d5c75.png  and the X key to open the Windows Mobility Center menu.

Select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.

When the Command Prompt opens copy the commands below one at a time and paste them in the Command Prompt, then press Enter after each command.

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

NETSH winsock reset catalog

NETSH int ipv4 reset reset.log

NETSH int ipv6 reset reset.log

Restart the computer.

Thanks both, that gives me something to work on. Oddly, a few apps have downloaded / updated each day, including Mail and MS Sticky Notes. I   have in mind to wait until after the Creators updated to see what the situation is then.

If you are having issues with installing or updating Store apps in Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows 10, it may be caused by an issue with the Store cache. Please follow the instructions at below link.

The Creators Edition is available now. I spent the day yesterday installing it on several computers for friends and family, looks like I will be busy for a couple of weeks here in New Mexico because a lot of people want me to install this for them.

It is stable and fast.

I have used the Rest Store Command before, sometimes with success, but not this time. I will try the other fixes in the article today (I hope). I now have 37 apps queued to download, including One Drive. The response I get is 'Waiting for WiFi' or Error 0x80070406 which is also related to the (lack of) internet connection. However, the internet connection is working OK. Meaning?

You posted "apps are 'pending', waiting to update".  Are these Windows updates or programs you are downloading.

Please do the following, copy and paste the results in your topic.

Press the windows keywindowskey_zps092d5c75.png  and the X key to open the Windows Mobility Center menu.

Select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.

When the Command Prompt opens type in ipconfig, then press Enter.

The problem relates to trying to downnload a few Store apps, but mostly to the automatic update of already installed apps, ie. currently most of the 37 which are listed as 'queued' for updating..

What does the 'awaiting Wi-Fii connection mean' given that Wi-Fi is connected?

What exactly are these updates?

Are they Windows updates?

See if rebuilding the Update components resolves your problem.

Open Notepad and copy and paste the batch script below in it.  Save this to the Desktop and name it UCReset.bat.

@ECHO OFF
echo Simple Script to Reset / Clear Windows Update
echo.
PAUSE
echo.
attrib -h -r -s %windir%\system32\catroot2
attrib -h -r -s %windir%\system32\catroot2\*.*
net stop wuauserv
net stop CryptSvc
net stop BITS
ren %windir%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old
ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution sold.old
ren "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\application data\Microsoft\Network\downloader" downloader.old
net Start BITS
net start CryptSvc
net start wuauserv
echo.
echo Task completed successfully...
echo.
PAUSE

To run the batch script right click on the UCReset.bat file on the desktop and select Run as administrator.

Restart your computer and try updating again.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

They are apps from  the Store, both MS apps (like Mail, Calendar, Photos, People and the Store itself) and various third party apps (like media players, reminder, notes, file managers, inking, film and TV, music) but not apps / programs downloaded directly from WWW which are alright. Ironically a new status has just appeared: 'Still waiting'!

The Windows OS seems to be updated OK and the Creators update is promised soon --- hopefully that will install OK.

I have not tried all the suggested fixes (in this thread) --- maybe tomorrow.

You can use Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to install Windows 10 Creators Update.
