Is it possible to completely remove Internet Explorer 7 from my operating system on my Compaq Presario CQ50 without damaging windows files , as I believe the I.E. is rooted deaply into windows. Could I use a removal tool like CCleaner ?

Is this a safe thing to do, and how far should one go?   Any suggestions would be much appreciated !!

No. IE is an integral part of Windows. If you don't like IE, just don't use it.
