Recently, I've been asked by a family member to take a look at their laptop, which has running weird lately. I figured it would be filled with toolbars and the occasional pop-up and what-not, so I thought on just installing Malware-Bytes, get rid of everything and go home, however, after finding a mind-blowing number of viruses, and sent all of them to "Quarantine", I tried to restart and then all of the owner's files and photos were completely missing, including most of the folders.
After I calmed her down by saying it would be fine if I just take the viruses out of Quarantine, and doing it, everything came back to normal and all, however the viruses are still here and we're just back where we starterd. I'm just the little guy who's good at computers from the family, not an expert or anything, so I really don't know how to proceed now that Malwarebytes have been ruled out because it damages the files.
Is there a less invasive anti-virus that would help my in my case, or anything I could do in order to prevent the contents of the laptop from being erased? Please have in mind that both my experience and tools are lacking, so I don't think I would be able to perform complex stuff. I could try, though, if I get the proper instructions.
If you read it all, thank you very much, and I would extremely appreciate any kind of help.
I will be leaving here the Malwarebytes report, however, viewer discretion is advised, because it's really long.
I'm sorry for the Spanish report, I would try to translate it, but I'm afraid to screw-up any important piece of info, so I'll just try to answer if there's a doubt. Again, thanks a lot for taking the time to read.
