Hi,

I have been getting random blue screens, usually when streaming videos through vlc player or chrome browser.

Stop code: DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

What failed: rtwlanu.sys

Desktop

OS - Windows 10
x64

i7 6700K
Radeon R9 270x
Gigabyte H170 motherboard
650 kw PSU

Appreciate help on what is the issue and how i can troubleshoot it.

Thanks!

Hi, atxy89,

Please reinstall your USB wireless adapter driver and continue to monitor for further BSODs.

Thanks for the advice.

I have reinstalled my AC1200 Dual Band USB Adapter using DWA-182 3.06.B04 driver but still encounter repeated BSOD.

Anything else i may have missed?

Hi, atxy89,

I'm sorry to hear that. :( Please run the Sysnative File Collection App again.

Kind regards,

Hi, atxy89,

Unfortunately, there were no memory dumps in the uploaded report. Please stop using CCleaner (or any other disk cleanup utility), as it automatically deletes memory dumps. We'll have to wait for the next BSOD(s).

Kind regards,
bwv848

Hi, atxy89,

It's blaming the same driver:

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for rtwlanu.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for rtwlanu.sys
Probably caused by : rtwlanu.sys ( rtwlanu+7c5f )
Curiously, have you turned on Driver Verifier by accident? If so, please turn it off. (I can't check with the minidump for some reason.)

Yep I had Driver Verifier turned on previously.

I have since uninstalled the faulty wireless adapter driver and disabled Driver Verifier.

Attached the Sysnative File Collection App.

Are there any workarounds if it keeps crashing despite reinstalling the driver?

Or is the driver installer itself faulty?

Hi, atxy89,

From what I can tell, these are Driver Verifier induced BSODs. When and why did you turn on Driver Verifier?

Regards,

bwv848

I turned on Driver Verifer shortly after first encountering the BSOD.

It has since been turned off but is still crashing. Seems like there is an additional error message now

Okay... can you run the Sysnative File Collection App again? Is the USB networking device still physically removed from the system, along with its driver?
