When I was younger he was my favorite guy to watch on all of tv. He was so funny and really enjoyed his job and showing people that it was just fun to watch.

I still like him.

I thought it was some sort of joke at first until I saw it was a cnn page.

Yeah stingrays arent usually deadly like that. He just got hit in the wrong spot.

Like others have said, i can't believe he went out that way. Most people think stingrays are dangerous because of their name and appearence, but i've only heard of a couple of "stingray attacks" in my entire 19 years.

It's really horrible to hear that one of the most talented and skill animal handlers was taken out by a generally peaceful creature.

I was looking at a few things and he is only the second recorded case of someone killed by a stingray. Really unlucky...

I never knew the man, but it just goes to show how someone who does things the way they should be, can effect someone half way around the world.

The world has lost a great fighter for animals, and will be surely missed.

Rest in peace Steve!

I am also shocked and saddened. But not surprised.

This guy abused and irritated animals just in the name of good television. I have also dived with Sting Rays. Big ones. And I know how to remain safe in their presence. And yes, these 'attacks' are rare, and are only done as a last line of defense by the ray. That, and his past actions around animals, leads me to beleive that he was messing with this animal, not giving it enough space, and it felt threatened enough to strike back. All in the name of good television. Tragic and needless.
