Windows did an automated update on 3/15 for my Windows 10 64 bit PC.  14 KB packages installed successfully, but I have a failure on Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4013429).  I've tried to install that KB 5 times with the same result.  No blue screen, no error code.  How do I find out what is preventing the KB from installing properly?  Thanks!

Click/tap here and select Fix Windows Update Errors Microsoft Support.

Select Windows 10.

Click/tap on the Windows Update Troubleshooter link, then click/tap on Save, then OK.

Open the downloads on your browser and select latestwu.diagccab.

Click/tap on Next.  This will run the diagnostic.

I had a problem with the same update-only I didn't think to check the number of the update.  I thought I had lost all my files which include a whole lotta stuff and I know better, but had not backed things up recently :(.  Just hit panic mode.  Bleeping Computer is my "go-to" site for any problems I have, as I am not at all knowledgeable in computers.  Long story short, I ran the troubleshooter  as recommended, and voila! all my original files reappeared. What a relief!

Now, I am off to back things up as I should have done in the first place!:D

Finally got it done, but it took a while.  I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter in the reply above and received the same problem when it completed.  Then I did a direct download of KB4013429 from Microsoft, and tried to install it.  Same result...failed to install.  The next level had me run DISM.exe (ran about 45 minutes) and then sfc /scannow (another 40 minutes).  Then I downloaded and ran the update again and this time it installed successfully.  The next step, if that had failed, would have been to reinstall Windows 10 :smash: .  Thanks for the help!!

They did explain this clearly and succinctly in their last post.

I know they did.

I was suggesting he could post how he did it  in the thread contained in my link to help others with the same issue.

Why don't you post a link to the solution at this website rather than suggesting that the OP do this.  The OP may not be interested in becoming a member at this website in order to post this information.  I'll even provide you with a link to that post.
