Helping family member. Someone brilliantly set a Windows 7 pc up as their server. She says it randomly reboots and crashes.

Currently running sfc /scannnow with a chkdsk scheduled on reboot. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Instinct says this thing has driver and .NET issues but I'm not certain by any stretch.

I'm in it with free version of team viewer and this is what I've got::

Please follow these BSOD posting instructions and attach the requested files in your next reply.

Thanks.

Useful information!
Please only use the .ZIP compression format, do not use .7z, .rar, etc.!!!

While you're waiting for a response, please run SeaGate SeaTools for Windows. Please run the Long Generic Test and test ALL the drives.

STOP 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP bugcheck (all dumps have the same bugcheck):

0: kd> .bugcheck
Bugcheck code 0000007A
Arguments fffff6fc`50076120 ffffffff`c0000185 00000000`759b0880 fffff8a0`0ec24938
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffff6fc50076120, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc0000185, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: 00000000759b0880, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: fffff8a00ec24938, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

As you can see, parameter two of the bugcheck indicates a possible problem with the hard drive...

If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.

What parameters did you specify when you ran CHKDSK?

Please test your RAM, using MemTest86. Here's a good guide, if you need help. Please run the test for AT LEAST eight passes, or the results will not be accurate.

Also, for good measure, please run SeaTools for Windows... be sure to test ALL the drives, using the Long Generic Test.

1) Please disable your paging file (http://www.techentice.com/delete-pagefile-sys-in-windows-7/)

2) Rght-click on a command prompt icon and open as administrator. In the command prompt window type: chkdsk /r  (then press ENTER). You'll be told the disk is in use and asked if you want to run checkdisk on the next boot. Say yes, exit the command prompt window, and reboot. After completing, checkdisk will reboot and return you to the desktop.

3) Re-enable the pagefile

You should also check the ram as suggested in the above post.

I've a bit of experience with memtest. I will run it now. I've also run the driver verifier command. I'll return with those results in the event this is still open when it concluded it's 24 hour period. upon reboot chkdsk /f was run.

Thanks again.

You want to run chkdsk with the "r" switch, not the "f" switch.

Her machine is no longer cooperating well enough for me to use teamviewer within reason and get everything done. I will be heading over there tomorrow to check things out in person. I appreciate all of the assistance thus far, and I'll update this as soon as I have new information.

Thanks for the update. In my opinion, you should run SeaTools FIRST, then ONLY if all the drives pass, run CHKDSK. IMO, running CHKDSK on a failing drive may mess things up big time.

There is no harm in running checkdisk (with the /r switch in this case). It's for situations such as this that it exists.

As is ALWAYS the case, you should have all critical data backed up - preferably using disk imaging software.
