I did a new install of Window 7 on my desktop a while back and I can't seem to make the screensaver or sleep mode work. My pc stays on 24/7 even after trying everything. Any ideas on what could cause this?

I would uninstall the graphics driver and then reinstall same.

Does the computer not shut down, or is the problem only with the sleep mode and the screensaver?

Did this problem start immediately after the fresh installation or after installing other programs?

Just to make sure I understand this, you are unable to get the computer to go into sleep mode?

Uninstalling and then installing a fresh graphics driver is a good suggestion.  But to uninstall it you would need to know from where.  Example: if the graphics card is NVIDA driver you would want to uninstall it in the control panel under Programs and Features.  If the driver isn't there you would want to uninstall it in the Device Manager.

Do you have the Power Options When I press the sleep button: set to sleep?

If neither of these suggestions resolves this we will provide you with instructions to run a Clean Boot to see if there is a third party service causing this.

As for the screen saver, most monitors now days are no longer cathode ray tube types which the screen saver was intended to be used with.  If a single image is left for a long period of time on a cathode ray tube monitor the image will be visible afterward for quite a long time.  The newer LED or LCD monitors are not susceptible to this.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
