Since I took my flash drive out of my PC with Windows 7 OS all documents are locked. I can only open them in read mode. Also I cannot save anything to the flash drive. I probably took it out with the PC on. Even after I put the flash drive back in the PC and turned it off the flash drive doesn't work.

How can I unlock the flash drive?

Flash drives can become read only because of a software lock or a hardware lock. If a flash drive's firmware determines there is a fault the drive becomes read only and cannot be corrected. Sandisk is a company that does this. If a software lock you may be able to remove it with the diskpart command. See the following page. Make sure you are selecting the correct disk number.

Open an elevated command prompt. Type CMD in the search box, right click and select Run As Administrator

JohnC, thanks for that info!  Before your post, I never knew that some flash-drives will do that.
