Hey guys,

I've been having issues with my PC on and off for about a year now, I've had various people look at it to try and find a problem, but no one seems to be able to figure out what is causing the freezing.

The freezing only ever happens when gaming and watching videos in Steam browser Sometimes it can be fine for hours, other times it will crash after only a few minutes. It's incredibly frustrating, especially if you haven't recently had an auto save somewhere along the line. The only way to get the pc to start up again is by doing a hard restart.

Below are the specs of my system and current temps whilst running idle.

Operating System
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU
    Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50GHz    27 °C
    Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
    16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
    ASRock Z87 Killer (CPUSocket)    24 °C
Graphics
    SONY TV *02 (1920x1080@60Hz)
    2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (MSI)    26 °C
Storage
    1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 ATA Device (SATA)    26 °C
Optical Drives
    ASUS BC-12D2HT ATA Device
Audio
    High Definition Audio Device

The PSU is a Thermaltake TR2 500W.

I am using a Coolermaster HAF X case with 4 big fans, so i'm pretty sure it isn't anything related with over heating.

Any input is welcome, thanks for taking the time to read this.

Greetings,

Please follow these BSOD posting instructions and attach the requested files in your next post.

Also, publish a snapshot with Speccy:

:step1: Speccy by Piriform

• Download and save Speccy from here.
• Right-click on the downloaded ZIP file, click Extract all, taking note of where the files will be extracted, and then hit Extract.
• Open up the extracted folder, right-click on Speccy64.exe, and select Run as administrator. Please accept any User Account Control prompts.
• After waiting a while, click File, then Publish Snapshot.
• Hit Yes to the Publish Snapshot dialog, then click Copy to Clipboard. Paste the URL in your next reply.

Thanks.

Useful information!
Please only use the .ZIP compression format, do not use .7z, .rar, etc.!!!

P.S. Your power supply has only 500 watts... that's the bare minimum for running a GTX 760.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've followed the steps that you suggested i followed and have attached what i think are the correct files. Please let me know if there is anything wrong with that i have done.

Whilst waiting, i might try and source a different PSU from someone then just to check if this is the issue to the problems i have been having.

Thanks

Jamie

I'm interested to see whether if a different PSU will fix the problem. With that said, I won't overwhelm you with my analysis for now. :)

Please reinstall your NVIDIA graphics driver. Use version 320.63, as that's your manufacturer-recommended driver version. Please perform a Custom Installation and only install the Graphics Drivers and PhysX software. :exclame: DO NOT INSTALL ANY 3D DRIVERS!!!

I've just done as you suggested and still i'm having the same frustrating issues. Any other ideas?

Thanks

update: I loaded up Tomb raider (the game the crashes happen on most frequently) from an earlier save point. PLayed through up to the part that the auto save had me at, and everything worked fine. I'm still playing now and so far no crashes. I'll let you know if any more crashes occur and will test some other games too.

update 2: After around 2 hours of playing i've just had my first crash and had to do a hard reboot again. And i thought it was going so well!

Uh, let's try version 331.65. Again, please perform a Custom Installation and only install the Graphics Drivers and PhysX software. :exclame: DO NOT INSTALL ANY 3D DRIVERS!!!

If that fails try, version 355.82.

So, i finally got round to trying out the other drivers. Managed to play about 20 mins before i had a crash and had to perform a hard reboot. Could it be another piece of hardware causing the issue?
