Streaming videos freeze momentarily after MoBo/processor upgrade

Recently upgraded my MoBo and processor. Now I'm getting momentary freezing of audio and video along with a vibrating/buzzing sound as it occurs. This happens about every 30 seconds or so for maybe 1 or 2 seconds at a time.

 

Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz, Haswell 22nm Technology

16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (10-10-10-30)

ASRock Z87 Extreme4 (CPUSocket)

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

 

This mother board has onboard video and I have my monitor plugged in to DVI. It also has HDMI out and in.

 

The onboard video seems to be a big step up from my old Radeon Sapphire HD4870 video card.

 

I have the latest network adaptor and can't seem to find any more driver updates needed.

 

Any ideas would be awesome.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

I was reading through the mini toolbox report and saw mention of games. I didn't remember having games on the computer. I cleaned up and un installed a few old programs and ran a scan with my AV and now everything seems to be running smooth again.

 

Unless there is something in this report you see that needs to be addressed.

Well, Louis... my satisfaction was short lived. The computer still seems to be doing this. and it's not just streaming. I tried a couple movies on my hard drive and they do it too. It's not as bad as it was but still stuttering every now and then.

 

I reset my router and switch but now can't think of anything else to try...

I would try basic maintenance...run the chkdsk /r command and follow that up with a sfc /scannow run.  Just to give myself a credible start point in looking for situations that don't need correction and which can impact performance..

Possibly related to Intel Driver Update utility...see https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/software-tuning-performance-optimization-platform-monitoring/topic/706477 .

 

I would disable that utility.

That's interesting. I uninstalled the driver update utility. I will check to see if my video will play smoothly for any extended times before freezing/stuttering again...

I did this when I installed the new parts. I formatted my SSD drive and reinstalled Windows 7 before I could reinstall my copy of Windows 10 Pro. This is just an annoying problem that started about a month (I think it was) after the install. If you remember the old TV series called Max Headroom, about a reporter injured in a motorcycle accident, after which a copy of his mind was uploaded to a computer. The name came from the warning sign in the garage which he obviously didn't see ;) Anyway, his voice always had this stutter, sounds like what my computer is doing when I play a video...

Ok, I ran a few clean-up and repair tools from here in th eDownload and found a lot of errors which were repaired. Videos are running smooth again and all is well...
