Hey everyone, I was interested in possibly getting a laptop.

I am currently using a 08 HP desktop, with Windows 7, and a graphics card. Don't know the specs, it was only $50 I think.

I use the computer mostly for entering sweepstakes, and checking email. For games, I usually use consoles. I copied these questions from another thread to give an idea of what I am looking for.

Laptop or Desktop?  I have never had a laptop before, and would like to keep my pc in its current place so it can still be used. This way I have two computers. If I get another pc I won't have a place to put the current one.

My budget for the new computer is:  No more than $800

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?  I use the computer mostly to enter sweepstakes, and check email. Sometimes for games.

What software do you intend on using on the computer? No particular software,  just a malware/anti virus program.

Do you play games? If so, what type of games? I play games on it sometimes, but mostly on console. I would like to have the option to play a game though, if I find one that I want to get.

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it? I have a lot of tabs open at the same time, and pages open at the same time.

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? Not much music, but I do like to save photos.

Will you be overclocking? Not sure what this is. Have to google.

Location for online shopping/shipment/prices? I'm in Tx.

How many monitors are you planning to use? Just one monitor.

Do you need peripherals? OS? Not sure what this is.

Any particular reason why you are upgrading? The pc I'm using lags when trying to run particular websites, and the mouse also lags. It makes it difficult to use.

You might think about a tablet.  You can pick up an Android tablet for less than $100.  I'm not a fan of laptops myself.

With the exception of games a tablet will do everything you want.  It will even do games, just not what you'd play on the PC, unless you're talking browser based games.

If you decide to go with a laptop you should be able to find many machines within your budget.

Overclocking is running the CPU faster than standard, in general if you don't know what it is, you won't be doing it.

Peripherals are add ons, printer, scanner, mouse, keyboard, camera.

OS is Operating System, like Windows 10.

The 17.3" HP-AMD laptops with APUs do quite well for the money spent...

I bought a 2 GHz dual core with 6gb of RAM about 4 years ago, added an SSD only last year, and am still quite happy with it to this day.

Way too many of the new Dell notebooks being sold only have 4 gb of RAM max.... an absolute travesty.

If you still interested in buying a laptop, according to your budget, I would recommend you ASUS K501UW-AB78.
- Intel Core i7-6500U 2.5GHz
- 15.6 inches Matte FHD display. 1920 by 1080 resolution.
- Windows 10 Operating System.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M gaming graphic card;
- 8GB RAM; 512GB SSD Storage.
I think it is the best option for this price
Anyway, you can compare it with different models

So I was watching QVC the other day, and they had an hour of laptops. This is the one they have for sale:

HP 17 Laptop in Fashion Colors AMD A12, 12GB, 2TB HD, Support & MS Office 365

The price is $700, and you can get touch screen or non touch. Do you guys think this one would one to go with? Supposedly the AMD processor that is on it is the latest one.

So went and looked at pcs to compare with the laptop.

I found this one. Do these specs sound ok for gaming occasionally? What games can this setup run?

Intel I5 -6400
8GB
1TB + 8GB SSD
Invidia Geforce GT 730.

Thanks guys.
