Hello World, I'm Jack.

I've been searching on the internet for ages about this problem to no avail, so I've decided to make a forum post about it as it's really bugging me.

The problem is that my computer (custom built) hangs at seemingly random times, no matter whether I'm opening chrome, or playing GTAV it hangs. Sometimes it happens every few minutes, sometimes every few days. After it hangs, the only way to get it to work again is to restart it. The audio gets messed up, and all peripherals seemingly stop working, except the display, which carries on as if nothing's happened, for example, I could be playing GTAV, it hangs, the audio goes messed up, the mouse&keyboard stops working but the monitor still shows me moving? It's as iff all input has been frozen. I'm at a loss here, hoping you guys could help?

Built the computer last April, been happening since. Recently reinstalled Windows to see if that would fix it. It didn't.

Here are the specs if they're useful:

Motherboard: GigaByte 990XA-UD3 (rev 3)

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 (2.8GHz)

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 630

Memory: (2x) Crucial Ballistix Sports RAM (4Gb DDR3)

OS Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 120Gb

OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64) Full Retail Version (up-to-date as of 22/02/2017) Original OS, reinstalled the same OS 20/2/17

PSU: Corsair CX500W

Thanks :-)

Please uninstall PC Wizard 2015.

Now time to deal with the hangs. :) First, is it possible, you disconnect your other three hard drives from your system? I'm afraid your graphics card isn't getting enough power. Next, reinstall your graphics drivers.Use version 368.69, as it seems to be pretty stable. Please perform a Custom Installation. You should only install the Graphics Drivers and PhysX software. :exclame: DO NOT INSTALL ANY 3D DRIVERS!!!

If I do not reply in three days, please message me.

Hiya, thanks for the reply :D

PC Wizard is gone, but it's not possible to disconnect all of the hard drives, so instead would you recommend getting a more powerful PSU?

I'll update the graphics drivers as well.

Thank You :D

UPDATE

The graphics driver you suggested doesn't seem to be compatible? Wrong driver or a problem at my end?

Thanks

It does this sometimes. The graphics driver I gave you should be compatible.  I'd try one more time. If it fails:

If necessary, you can always revert back to the restore point you created.

Thanks; the driver works :-)

I won't be able to tell if the hanging's stopped, though. I need to use the computer for a while first.

As for the power, what's your recommendation?

Thanks;

-Jack

Sorry, but I'm a tad bit confused.  What were you referring to?

Ah, so sorry, I can't even remember what I said! If your computer is running without hangs/freezing for now, then we don't need to worry about that.
