I have Dell Desktop; Win10; Firefox.

Hello, I have these problems:

1.  Suddenly I find tons of unknown pics to me, they are too large.  I tried to delete them but there are so many that I hope for a more practical way.

2.  It seems to transfer pics I have to use Edge's own "email" but ti keeps saying my server needs to be completed or something.  I tried to "complete" it whatever it meant, but couldn't do it.

3.  I'm so fed up with Edge that I tried in the past to get rid of it and all its Photo App but it didn't get deleted.

4.  Finally I tried to use ONLY Windows Photo Gallery (which I used to like a lot more) but here again I didn't succeed.

Very grateful for any ideas and thanks ever so much!

Where are these unknown pics stored?  Any idea where they are coming from?

Where do you want to transfer these pics?

You can't rid of Edge, it is built into Windows 10.  The best you can do is not use it.

You can unpin Edge from the taskbar and the Start Menu, then make your favorite browser the default browser.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Thank you Kilroy:

Where are these unknown pics stored?  Any idea where they are coming from?

I see the word "Collection" above the pics.  I have no idea whatsoever where or how they appeared.  I have many of my own which I had uploaded to my computer thinking they would land in Windows Photo Gallery (PG) as in the past, then I got the unpleasant surprise they were in Photo App (PA) AND also in PG!!!  But in PG no unknown pics.

Where do you want to transfer these pics?

I wanted to send them to someone by email by clicking on "Share" but it kept saying "Your RCN settings are out of date".  So I added the password I use for RCN (my server) and still didn't send the pics.   I also wanted to transfer ALL pics (minus unknown ones) from PA to PG if this is possible and just keep PA empty....

You can't rid of Edge, it is built into Windows 10.  The best you can do is not use it.

I understand, so how can I transfer the pics to PG and leave the PA empty?  But the problem is how to make sure that when I upload pics from my camera they land in PG and not in PA?

Thanks again!    :)

I don't see the Edge icon in my taskbar.  What I do have in the taskbar is the icon for the Photo App, you know a square with black background and what looks like 2 white mountains?  lol!  My favorite browser is Firefox and it works well with Photo Gallery...until this Photo App arrived to make me miserable... :(

Thanks for trying to help!   Leidi

You need to set your default photo application to photo gallery.  Settings->System->Default Apps->Photo Viewer and pick Photo Gallery from the list once you click on the current app (which is probably the Win 10 Photos App) to bring it up.

You don't "transfer" your pictures from app to app and you don't likely have duplicate copies.  Either Photo Gallery or the Win10 Photos App generally look in the Pictures library to locate the images you have unless you make an effort to customize things.

I do not recall whether Photo Gallery has an upload feature to it as I have never used it.  I currently use Fast Stone Image Viewer as my default photo app and can control precisely where I want things uploaded from either a camera or a card reader from within that application.

I can't comment on what's happening with your e-mail application as there's not enough information to go on.

Thank you so much Brian:

You need to set your default photo application to photo gallery.  Settings->System->Default Apps->Photo Viewer and pick Photo Gallery from the list once you click on the current app (which is probably the Win 10 Photos App) to bring it up.

*I did these steps and chose Photo Gallery, but on clicking on it, it showed a new dropdown with: “Paint”, “Movie Maker”, “Windows Photo Viewer, and again the Photo Gallery.  Was I to click on one of these too? There was  no “OK” button, but I hope it's now the default.

You don't "transfer" your pictures from app to app and you don't likely have duplicate copies.  Either Photo Gallery or the Win10 Photos App generally look in the Pictures library to locate the images you have unless you make an effort to customize things.

*I understand now.  I still don’t know why and how to get rid or prevent getting unknown photos, but if I won’t need to use the Photo App then there’s no problem, right?

I do not recall whether Photo Gallery has an upload feature to it as I have never used it.  I currently use Fast Stone Image Viewer as my default photo app and can control precisely where I want things uploaded from either a camera or a card reader from within that application.

*Thanks for mentioning ‘Fast Stone Image Viewer”, I took a pick and it looks like a thorough and easy system....of course it’s the opinion of a very beginner in computer things lol.

I can't comment on what's happening with your e-mail application as there's not enough information to go on.

*Oh I have the worst desktop email: WLMail but I like the “bells and whistles” it offers but it has deteriorated and without support, and I’ll try to change to Thunderbird as soon as I can. ;)

*Thank you again and I will try now to upload a pic to see whether it will land in the Photo Gallery and I'll report it here.  If it doesn't work for me, maybe I'll venture to try the Fast Stone Viewer and hope I won't be messing it up in the process...  :)

P.S.  I see in posting this, the color and font I used to distinguish my answers disappeared, so I'll put some space and an asterisk.

P.P.S.  Where in the control panel here I can configure to receive notices of the answers?

There's nothing, at all, wrong with Windows Live Mail 2012 at the moment if you're using it for either POP or IMAP access to an e-mail server.  It should be OK for quite a while, too.
