Hello,

I've recently made the decision to finally switch to a smartphone, now that my Sony Ericsson K700i has finally died on me.

I, however, am not particularly tech savvy, so I asked a friend and he told me to buy a "Wink City S" smartphone. It's a Romanian device. It costs $66. It appears to be what I am looking for - nothing special, just a basic smartphone. My budget is $100.

My friend owns one as well and he provided me with the following "Geekbench 4" numbers for it - http://tiny.cc/gw39iy . I don't understand though whether these figures are good or bad. I saw that it is 100% faster than an iPhone 4S and somewhat slower than an iPhone 5. Not quite sure what that should mean to me though.

So in short:

Geekbench 4: Is this considered a good first smartphone for $66 - http://tiny.cc/gw39iy ? I saw that it is 100% faster than an iPhone 4S.

Thank you in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm not very good with new technology, even though I am 21 years old.

P.S. I appologize for any mistakes which I might have made in my post, since English isn't my native language.

:)

It being faster than a 5-6 year old phone is nothing to write home about. It's slower than the iPhone 5 which isn't even a phone you can buy anymore, outside of the used market. If you are going for a cheap phone, forget about performance, it is just not a factor when you want something inexpensive.

In case anybody needs it, here are the Phone Specifications.

Thank you for your response. However, the links that you have provided are not for the same model as the one that I am considering. The smartphone I've talked about comes with Android 6.0, has a 1280x720p HD Ready 5'' screen, 1GB RAM and a 4-core 1.3Ghz MT6580 processor.

I plan on using it for some light web-browsing such as Yahoo! Finance & YouTube and also from time to time torrenting and watching movies with the Flud app.

I was just wondering if there are any faster and thusly better options on the new and unlocked smartphones market for less than $100. I also saw that a U.S. company called "Vonino" seems to have decent options in that price range, possibly suitable for folks like me.

Anyways, thank you for your help. Cheers!

P.S. The Wink City S smartphone also has a 13MP back camera with a 5MP front-facing camera and it costs $66

Those specs don't exist on the only phone I can find on their website.

I used Google translate so I might have missed the one you refer to.

You are correct. Either they haven't updated their product list on their website or stopped producing the model which I am looking at. Despite this however, the smartphone is among the top-selling both in the Romanian and the Bulgarian version of the e-market website eMag. Here is a link through which my buddy bought his smartphone.

The information checks out in both the Romanian & Bulgarian version of the website, though in the Romanian one the phone is slighty more expensive at $70.68 with free delivery.

Furthermore, here is also a link to its Geekbench results for additional info:

I'm also eyeballing the Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace. However despite its significantly higher price tag and going a little over my $100 budget, it seems to be providing less value with only 480x800p display, dual-core 1.3Ghz Cortex-A53 processor and 512MB of RAM as compared to 1GB in the Romanian smartphone.

Hi,

I personally wouldn't support your pick. Your budget is quite low and I'd recommend extending it, but if you can't go higher, I'm positive this would be a better choice: http://www.gsmarena.com/vodafone_smart_prime_7-8099.php
