My Company VPN can't connect through Exede Satellite ISP

I live in a rural area and my only options for internet are satellite or my cell phone provider.  I have Exede satellite ISP and I am pretty happy with it other than the data limit and the fact that I can't connect to my company VPN.  


From what I understand the problem is a latency issue and my company VPN can't authenticate with the satellite quickly enough.  Does anyone know if there is something I can do  to fix the problem?  Is there a device I can buy or software I can install?  An Exede technician had me install a Chrome extension called Ultrasurf, but it only worked temporarily.  I'm not sure why.


I use a Macbook Air, if that makes any difference.

Looks like a known problem. This article suggest several options but no simple fixes.
