Hello, I could really use any help I can get to try and figure out what's going on with my computer. I'm running out of hard drive space and it seems to be effecting pages loading onto chrome. IDK if that is possible but it always seems like when I get short on hard drive space pages do one of three things. They ether are very slow loading, load upto a certain amount which is kind of scrambled or won't load at all. Here is the crazy part, I don't really have many things in the add and remove section of windows so I can't remove much more to get more space on my hard drive. I don't know what a lot of the stuff in the add and remove section is for so i'm not sure if I can remove it safely or not. I don't have any pictures, Doc, Videos or music on the hard drive so that isn't taking up space. I will add screenshots to show what I do have and maybe someone can help me figure out why I don't have any memory remanding on my computer which is effecting my online experience? I do have something wrong with troubleshooting on this computer also. It always tells me there is something preventing troubleshooting from starting. Maybe it has something to do with what is taking up so much space on the hard drive or maybe it's just a coincidence that it stopped working around the same time I notice the memory issue. I added a red star to each item in the add and remove section to show what items I do know what they do and why they are there. All the others I don't know anything about them or if I can safely remove any of them. Anyway, Any help anyone could offer would be very appreciated.

Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. As suggested by a community member. ~ Animal

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Also, there are several separate utilities that will give a pie chart or a bar graph or a listing, from high number to low number, the content size of each directory.  Be careful when pruning folders and files; make sure such are not part of Windows OS or 3rd party programs.

System Specs

I would uninstall the Cloud System Booster and WinCleaner applications, since each appears to be an optimizer/registry cleaner.  BC does not support the use of such, see following.

Registry cleaner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registry_cleaner

Registry Cleaner, Animal - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/526247/tune-up-utilities-2014-problem/?p=3303494

Outdated Java versions installed, see Why should I remove older versions of Java from my system - http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/remove_olderversions.xml .

Insufficient free space on C: partition.  This partition should reflect a minimum of 15% of total partition size...as free space on the partition...in order for Windows to function properly.  You appear to need more storage space than you have provided for your system.  Once that is accomplished, you should move all data files (movies, music, photos, etc.) from the C: partition to the additional storage areas.

Thank you Louis, I have removed the two reg cleaners like you suggested and the old version of Java as well. I'm not sure what to do about all the items on the C: drive. Like I said I don't know what is taking up all of my hard drive space, I don't even have any (movies, music, photos, etc.) I can remove whatever I need to to fix the partition issue but I don't know what I can safely remove without having system problems. As you can see I have USB memery cards for all of the non system stuff I want to save. I may have enough space know though. I will try to allow for 15% on C: partition. Maybe that will resolve all the system issues i'm having. I just don't understand what could be taking up 76GB of hard drive space. I have so much more on my laptop 40GB hard drive including a very large amount of music and pictures and I still have half of the space free on that drive. I almost feel like there is something taking up more space than it should be taking or maybe installed more than once or something. I will add the additional partition space today and give an update. Thank you again

Hello again, I just tried to change the protection amount on the drive to 15% and I just don't have the space to move it up that high. It is set at 5% right now which is pretty much all the remanding space there is on the drive. I don't know what to do to fix the issue.

Check the amount of disk space allocated to System Restore. Check to see if Microsoft Backup is enabled. Delete your older backups if enabled.

Run SpaceSniffer.

Edit: Looking at your installed programs Office + Windows 7 + Autodesk + 3D software uses a lot of disk space. Delete the following if not used.

You only need one 7zip, delete the Beta version.

Adobe Air
Adobe Shockwave Player

Anvi Smart Defender 2.5 (HKLM-x32\...\Anvi Smart Defender) (Version: 2.5 - Anvisoft)

Google Earth

The above probably will not free much space. For the price of a new drive I would recommend you clone the existing drive to a 1TB drive. A 80 GB drive is really not big enough today.

You do not want to increase your System Restore Space. That will take more space used for your OS and programs. Leave it at 5% or make it smaller.

I looked at the Speccy report and your current sector pending count is 174. This is not good as it suggests the drive may be failing. This attribute indicates the sectors that are pending but cannot be read. Your Reallocated Sector count is 1833 if the attribute is HEX which I am not sure. I would download GsmartControl and run the short/long tests. Look under the attributes tab for any red or pink rows.

Do you have System Restore enabled?

Are there any backups stored on the C: partition?

Yes And that is what I guess I was looking at when I say 5% for

I will do that and post my findings and outcome. Thank you for the input. This is a big help!

NTFS becomes critically unstable above 70% used space.  Not a lot of reason to chase specific problems.  Complaining about Chrome's functionality is like worrying about why your air conditioner doesn't work when your wheels are flying off your car on the free way and sparks flying through your window are setting fire to your upholstery.

Use TreeSize if you can get it for free.  It will show you where your files are located.

I guarantee you like...50% of your hard drive is probably recycle bin.  Happens all the time.  You can blow away the recycle bin stuff.  I'm not talking about "emptying" your recycle bin.  I'm talking about the actual system file itself probably is holding on to a lot of stuff.

The issue with Chrome is just something I noticed after getting the low memory warning so I figured I would mention it. My biggest question is where is all the space is being used up. I just don't see how I can be using up that much with what is on the HD. What you said about the recycling bin makes sense. I will try to download the program. Thank you for the advice.
