I was having problems with windows 8 not booting properly. Once it booted it would freeze. I ran just about every anti malware and Spyware program I could find from safe mode along with windows recovery tool and got it working again but only for about 2 days. Then it started lagging, crashing Web browsers and finally BSOD. I ran memtest and everything checked out fine so I went scorched earth and bought a new HD and Windows 10 from Best Buy.

I installed it and installed Windows without a problem. Now my problem is on my task bar I can open programs like explorer and I can see the thumbnail version of t when I hover over it but I can't maximize it. I can also see my time and date on the lower right but not my connection setting, sound setting etc. When I boot in safe mode everything runs fine. I'd appreciate anyone's help.

Thanks,
Dave

Sounds like you just need to reconfigure things.  If you right click on one of the thumbnails do you see a minimize option?  Right click your Taskbar and select Properties.  Press the Customize button in the Notification area:.  Click the Select which icons appear on the taskbar link and adjust the icons you would like to see.

Thank you for the response. If I right click I can unpin, close etc. If I right click the taskbar and go to properties I can see the thumbnail version of properties when I hover the mouse over it but can't access it.

I called Microsoft support and he was able to remote in to my computer. Everything worked normally for him but not from my view. He didn't have a solution for me other than trying to get me to buy the "upgraded" Windows version from him.
