I was trying to update Ccleaner and Piriform sent me to Filehippo for the download which I thought was odd. When I tried to download it, the site (Hippo) said something like "Timed out" or "Took too long" or something along those lines in a new window. Nothing seemed to have loaded. I was wondering if that was suspicious, which it might not be, but I'm just a paranoid person who has a dreaded fear of downloading anything.

The last time I updated Ccleaner I had a choice between Piriform and Filehippo for the download. I always chose Pirifom for the location. Both are reputable sites. I'd just try again...

Hmm, I'll check again for that option. I didn't see it the first time, but I wasn't looking. Thank you

Since FileHippo started offering downloads via Installers, I don't recommend them anymore.

This is a quote FileHippo previously posted to explain "What is the FileHippo Download Manager?"

The FileHippo Download Manager delivers software straight from our supercharged servers to your computer. The Download Manager allows us to use multiple network connections at the same time to guarantee you the fastest, safest delivery possible.

During this process, the Download Manager may offer you other free applications provided by our carefully chosen partners. These offers are completely optional and you are not required to install any additional applications to receive the software you selected...

I too always go for the manufacturer's website, if they do their own downloads.
In the case of Ccleaner, I've taken to going with the portable version:
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

One good download site I ran across a few months ago is FileHorse.
Here is the ccleaner download from there - http://www.filehorse.com/download-ccleaner/download/
It's a direct download, and it's clean.

I did notice, however that the version offered by Piriform's site is 5.27 whereas the one on Filehorse is 5.26.
