I have seen screenshots of others computers ant their start button is just an icon or it says just a word they want. Is there a way to change either the color, what it says, or what is looks like. Thanks, Evan

Warning: Editing system files, such as explorer.exe, can have adverse effects on your computer, possibly causing it to not work anymore.
Please do not try this if you are not an
experienced user.

Before you make any changes to your Start button, you should read these 3 topics (Highly Recommended):
1. Start button, Renaming "start"
2. change start buton ate my computer!, help
3. Change the start button text in WinXP, how 2 make the start button say anything

I Use "WindowBlinds". You can browse a site called wincustomize with about over 300 diffirent skins for XP. They can change the whole look of you desktop. Start botton, menu, Internet Explorer, and I've changed my Boot up screen and log in screen.

The full version is around 30$, but it''s useful. Makes XP look much better, but it'll eat up a bit more system memory, so if you're short on that, it may not be wise.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
