This may be the forum I need. I bought my first PC in 1993 when my daughter started junior high school. It was a Gateway 2000 and thus started my saga of lingering annoying issues with my computer, which got off to a roaring start with that one, when they sent me a new motherboard to solve an intermittancy issue. After that that PC was rock solid. Since then I moved up to a Dell just like I bought new for my daughter when she went off to college in 2001. She had more issues with hers that I did with mine, but she had university IT people to get help from. After college she moved on to a lap top. I stuck it out with my Dell with WindowsXP until maybe 3 or 4 years ago when I bit the bullet and bought the latest Dell available at COSTCO! Little did I know it came with the dreaded Windows8. What a disaster that was. So impossible to use I actually bought a copy of Win7 on eBay, which I was familiar with from my career in engineering at Boeing. I successfully procrastinated the pain of stepping back until Bill Gates generously offered all us poor victims a free upgrade to Win10 and that's where I am today. BTW, his mansion on the east side of Lake Washington from down town Seattle, crossed by our two famous floating bridges, is stunning and a showcase for the latest technology, only viewable by air or private boat.
