Hi, I seem to have a unique problem, can't find answers.
My Dell laptop started up with a blue screen. I then plugged in an external screen. On start up the external screen is also blank. I took a guess that it is running in the background and typed in my screen-pass key.
I then got a picture on my external screen but I cannot open any of the programmes (they show on the bar at the bottom of the screen only).
When I right click on a programme I am able to click on "move", but it still wont open on the external screen.
However, I can see that the programme "opens" on the laptop's blue screen in the background, if I shine torch onto that screen.
Please help! I cannot get to settings to see whether I can change to chosen screen!
What do I do?

This seems that there's a problem with your backlight on the laptop (a broken hardware part).

As for why the external monitor doesn't work - it could be due to a hardware problem.

I would suggest posting over in the Internal Hardware forums for more expert assistance:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/7/internal-hardware/

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
